Privacy and analytics

Updated October 1, 2026.

Analytics is currently inactive. This site is not configured to send visitor events to PostHog.

What optional analytics measures

With your permission, we use PostHog to count page visits, published-guide visits, and selected shop-link clicks from guides, homepage product photos, and the budget planner. We also count changes to the planner’s predefined printer selection. These counts help us understand which reading and budgeting paths are useful. A selection or shop-link click does not tell us whether you made a purchase.

After you opt in, the analytics library stores random browser and session identifiers in browser storage so we can group visits and avoid counting repeat clicks as separate visitors. Your analytics preference is also saved in this browser. We do not ask for your name, email, or account, and we do not record your screen or automatically capture everything you click.

Our event properties include the page path, guide identifier where applicable, shop/product/link identifiers, predefined printer-selection identifier, referring website’s hostname, and random analytics identifiers. We discard page query strings, fragments, and full referring URLs from analytics events. PostHog receives the connection metadata needed to receive a request; those requests use its US ingestion service. PostHog’s privacy policy describes its service.

The starter-budget planner does not send or save the prices, tax or shipping amounts you enter.

Your choice

“Keep analytics off” leaves the guides and shop links fully usable. If you allow analytics and later withdraw your choice, future events stop; that does not recall events already sent. Browser privacy signals such as Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track also keep this integration off. Analytics blockers can prevent measurement without affecting the guides.

Hosting and outside links

Vercel hosts the site and may process request data to deliver it and operate its service. See Vercel’s privacy policy. Links to shops, designers, and source websites take you to services with their own privacy practices.
