Budget PLA: compare the cost of one usable spool
Four dated US black 1.75 mm, 1 kg PLA spool offers, with shipping tradeoffs and exact selections. Choose a first order without mistaking bulk or refill prices for a single roll.
If you need one roll, compare one complete spool plus shipping and tax. A lower price for a refill, a dozen rolls or another shipping region can answer a different buying question.
First decide whether PLA suits your project. Then narrow the package to your printer’s diameter and feed system. This comparison helps with the order cost once that material decision is made.

Prices are USD before shipping and tax, without coupons, memberships or bulk discounts. “High Speed” is Overture’s product name, not a speed result from our testing.

Let shipping settle the comparison
Polymaker’s written policy makes a single $18.99 roll $24.98 before tax, using its $5.99 under-threshold fee. That is policy-based arithmetic, not a checked cart.
Overture’s US policy makes its $13.99 roll $19.98 before tax under the same calculation. It serves the contiguous 48 states and Washington, D.C.; Alaska, Hawaii and US territories are excluded. Its product structured data also lists zero shipping, so confirm the final charge rather than treating that metadata as a quote.
SUNLU has the lowest item price in these four selections, but its shipping information does not settle a one-roll total. The product page and shipping policy advertise free shipping to eligible US regions; the store banner says free shipping over $40. The policy excludes non-mainland or remote areas and military addresses. Check the US selection and final charge. We leave its delivered total open.
MatterHackers advertises conditional US free shipping above $35 on its product page. We did not establish the below-threshold fee. Its $14.99 per roll requires 12 or more rolls; a first order of one is $19.99 before delivery and tax.
Buy the quantity you will use
An extra roll can meet a shipping threshold while increasing your cash spend. Decide whether you actually need it before adding colors to save a delivery fee. Compare the whole order, not only the per-kilogram number.
Keep the package selection intact when reopening a link: black color, 1.75 mm diameter, 1 kg net filament and a spool. Different colors, refills, blends and multipacks need their own checks. Our spool-or-refill guide explains why a refill price cannot stand in for a usable first spool.
Check the exact reel against your feed hardware separately. A storefront’s broad compatibility statement does not prove physical fit in every automatic color unit. Follow your printer and filament instructions rather than selecting a roll by an untested speed or strength claim.
